VP of Tour Operations
Rachel Konar was Aardvark’s very first employee and her contribution to the growth and success of Aardvark is second only to our founder and owner, Larry Borden. Rachel came to Aardvark in 2005 having spent a number of years working her way through college as a brand ambassador. A brilliant mind, strong people skills and a determination to never ever fail made Rachel the perfect fit for this scrappy startup company that in 2005 was just beginning to establish itself.
Initially hired as a Program Manager, she was responsible for managing the daily operations and logistics of multiple tours, and it was in that role that she was able to hone her skills in client relationship management, hiring, training, DOT compliance, budget management, and more. Through several years of hard work, dedication, and proven success, Rachel was promoted to the role of VP of Tour Operations, where she now leads a team of Program Managers who develop, implement, execute and analyze the success of all client programs – spanning more than 5,000 events per year.
Rachel’s career growth and success closely parallels the style and trajectory of Aardvark itself. Smart, scrappy, always improving and relentlessly focused on delivering for the customer every day.
“I never imagined when a temp company sent me to Aardvark for a brief assignment, that less than a year later I’d be managing the shipping, receiving and warehouse function. Aardvark is a great company with a great culture and lots of opportunity. I love it here!”
Javon Franklyn, a native of Jamaica, came to Aardvark through a local temp agency in the late summer of 2017. Prior to his time at Aardvark, Javon was doing temp construction work in the Philadelphia area. We brought him into Aardvark on a temporary basis to provide support to our production team that was in the latter stages of building and deploying the largest project in Aardvark’s history. A very soft spoken, under the radar individual, it took us a few weeks to realize that Javon was much more than a typical temp. He was diligent about staying on task to complete assigned projects on time. He humbly put forth valuable suggestions for how we could get work done more efficiently and effectively. Throughout the fall, Javon became an increasingly integral member of both the production team and our Aardvark team as whole.
When the temp assignment expired in late 2017 we brought Javon in on a full time basis in the role of production coordinator. We gradually challenged Javon with projects of greater complexity and accountability including taking over full responsibility for our incoming and outgoing shipping function, and with tours operating simultaneously in over 45 US markets on any given day, that can be quite an undertaking. Fast forward to the summer of 2018 and in addition to his ongoing role as a Production Coordinator and management of our shipping functions, Javon has been tasked with leading the implementation and daily operation of our new state of the art warehouse management system.
In a company that is growing as quickly as Aardvark, there is limitless opportunity for dedicated, hardworking, intelligent and ambitious individuals like Javon. “Finding a company like Aardvark only happens once in a lifetime. I love my job because I get to travel all over the country driving some of the coolest custom vehicles ever built for some of the biggest companies in the world.”
John Keaton began his career with Aardvark in 2014 driving a luxury motorcoach on the Lady Gaga Tour. From the start, we knew it was a perfect fit as John’s approach to the job personifies the Aardvark core value “What’s right for the customer above all else.” Our customers love the effort, care, planning and positivity John brings into everything he does. When the Gaga tour completed, we shifted him to our North Face Tour, then Coke, then Home Depot, then T-Mobile. Now four years after that first assignment, John has moved from driving assignments to the HQ position of Fleet Coordinator, assisting drivers across all of our programs nationwide with training support, coaching, operational assistance and more. John’s career path is emblematic of the Aardvark approach to people management: hard work, performance and commitment are rewarded with greater responsibility, opportunity and compensation.
